In southern Myanmar, where we operate, there is an archipelago of more than 800 islands called Andaman. The fishermen of these islands use traditional fishing, but in recent decades their habitat has been threatened by the intensive industrial fishing techniques.
Our mission is to bring medical care to isolated territories, where patients die from flu, malnutrition and common accidents because there are no hospitals or pharmacies. Together with Specchio dei Tempi, our main supporter, we decided to create a Mobile Clinic on Boat to reach the inhabitants of these islands every month.
On each island we reach, we provide free medical examinations and donate the medicines necessary for the healing of each patient. With this project, we treat an overall population of around 3500 people who have often never received a medical examination before.
